Wheel Molds

Heise designs and manufactures a variety of molds for Wheel Machines. These machines are primarily used for container sizes that range from 8 ounces to 1 gallon for Household Consumer Goods, Food, Beverage and Automotive Products. Some of the machines we build molds for:

  • Graham Machinery
  • Wilmington Machinery
  • Uniloy

How it Works: The molds are mounted on a vertical wheel turning at a speed which is synchronized with the speed of the parison extrusion. As the wheel rotates, the mold halves move into position on either side of the parison, they are sequentially closed, the parison is pinched on the top end and bottom end, and the product is blown , cooled and removed from the machine. Typically, a secondary trimming operation is required to remove the excess plastic, or flash, from both ends of the container.

Wheel Machines produce larger volumes of containers because the platform provides more cavitation similar to a Long Stroke Machine. What is unique to Wheel Machines is a needle blow application to blow the cavity. Since there is no blow pin involved in the process, the neck of the bottle cannot achieve a calibrated finish.
