Long Stroke Molds

Heise designs and manufactures a variety of molds for Long Stroke Machines. These machines are primarily used for the manufacture of small to medium size containers like Shampoo, Detergent, Oil containers and even Intravenous Bags. Some of the machines we build molds for:

  • Fong Kee International Machinery Co. Ltd.
  • Kautex Maschinenbau
  • Bekum Machinenfabrik
  • SMC Corporation
  • Sika Machinery
  • Techne Simoparma Packaging Italia Srl.
  • Akei Holdings Company
  • R&B Machinery
  • Uniloy
  • Magic MP spa
  • Multipack Plas
  • Automa
  • Comec
  • Sig
  • Hesta
  • Sabmann Blasformtechnik
  • JHB Machinery
  • Suzhou Tongda Machinery Co. Ltd.

How it Works: What differentiates a Long Stroke Machine from other platforms is typically its larger size, the platen’s length of stroke and the directional movement of the carriage or platen. The molds are mounted on a mobile clamp carriage which is synchronized to move the molds laterally to the parison position. The mold halves close and pinch the parison at the bottom end and top end, in some cases . Then the clamp carriage moves laterally to the blowing position. The air source, or blow pin, is inserted into the parison and the product is blown, cooled and removed from the machine. All Long Stroke Machines have a dual mobile clamp carriage which move alternately from dual blowing positions to a central parison extruding position.

Long Stroke Machines produce larger volumes of containers because there is typically more cavitation in the molds compared to other platforms. In comparison to an accumulator head that fills a chamber with melted resin material, Long Stroke Machines do not have an intermittently filled chamber in the head but rather a continuous extrusion process. The head of the machine will oscillate up and down or “bob” to provide enough clearance for the parison at the end of each molding cycle.
